Being in the global BioPharma industry for almost 30 years I have learned the most important asset of any company is its people. There are so many things to consider when taking a new job in a new country; the largest might be if your family will transition easily to an entirely new life so far from their current home. From the first time we came to visit the city on an Orientation Tour, Connectiv was there to come by the hotel and greet us. We found a wonderful welcome package in our room, complete with books about schools and Swiss-life, magazines about daily life and of course chocolates! Connectiv took us around to look at apartments and homes, schools, parks, museums and restaurants (Rosti!!!).We had such a relaxing and complete first visit without any pressure or stress.
Moving from your home of over a decade comes with challenges which Connectiv made seem easy. We had everything packed up and organized for multiple moves (we moved from CA to MA and Switzerland, so it was extra complex!). During this organization stage, we also were searching for an apartment to move into directly when we arrived. Although the employer was happy to offer us temporary housing, we wanted to start our new life immediately so the kids would have fewer disruptions and moves.
Connectiv worked with us relentlessly, to the point of making videos of our prospective apartment, and sending measurements they took personally with the owner! Connectiv organized our internet and telephone to be ready so we wouldn’t miss a beat in our home office and even provided us information about buying a car. It was as if we had a personal assistant. We felt extremely important and taken care of!
Each detail was considered and Connectiv held our hands through all the administrative elements of registering, getting ID cards, insurance, driving license, tram tickets, cell phones; you name it, Connectiv was there! Even to this day, if I have a question about something, or need some help with some mail in German, my first contact is Connectiv!
Just a note to let you know what a superb job you did in guiding us through our, successful, accommodation search in Basel. You were always available and provided us with great information as and when required. Your local knowledge was exceptional together with your invaluable cultural and language skills…which we certainly did not have! Organising a move overseas can be complicated and stressful unless you chose the right support - especially when you are walking into a demanding new job and need to focus your efforts in the first few months on resolving issues there. I moved to Basel in May 2015 and found many relocation specialists operating in the local market.
Before I arrived, I narrowed my choice down to two - and chose Connectiv based on their flexible package options and their professionalism with a personal touch. You never know how it is going to play out, but in the end I couldn’t have been happier with the service provided and everything ran extremely smoothly - so I could focus on my new CFO position. The consultant we were allocated (and the team in the office), was fantastic – nothing was too much trouble and everything was organised so efficiently, picking me up at the office when I was free to make visits to organise – registration/permits, temporary apartment, permanent apartment, pets registration, schools etc etc. Answering my questions by e-mail quickly at any time in the early morning or late evening and also giving lots of local advice. My biggest concern was would they find locations/properties that I would be comfortable in and in the right location - as the property market is extremely tight - in the end this ran very well, having had my requirements fully understood and reflected in the properties presented.
